A Kind of Homecoming
A rugged, frontier mining town in the foothills of the northern reaches of the Galena Mountains. Most consider it the northern limit of the kingdom of Damara. It is mostly populated by dwarven miners who mine bloodstone, iron, and copper in small, individual claims sprinkled throughout the mountain valleys. It is surrounded by dense pine forests and rolling hills locked in permafrost with few roads except for those kept open by the Damaran garrison stationed in town. Goblinoids and giantkin are a constant threat, especially now that the influence of the Damaran king is waning.
Most of the town was dug into the hillside by the dwarves who founded the town to protect it from the harsh winter weather that comes howling down from the Great Glacier, whose southernmost edge is only a week’s journey (in good weather, which is rare) to the north. The rest of the town is huddled behind stout stone walls topped by a wooden palisade.
